Milwaukee fault finding

Been handed a box with two M18 impact wrenches in it. One in bits and one complete. No batteries so can’t use them to see what happens. Apparently they both work but not properly. One was a week old and the other was three weeks old when they started playing up. Warranty isn’t an option, they have been on a fishing boat. Salt water has got to them. The one in bits is pretty rusty. Going to clean it all up and put it back together and take it from there. How would I check out the circuit board?

The half inch one is working now It was the one already in pieces but went back together easily after a bit of cleaning. The small issue is the numbers don’t light up, cant say it bothers me. You can tell by the sound what setting you have it in. The 3/4 does nothing but it’s in pretty bad way with rust. Got contact cleaner coming so I’ll give it a good going over with that and try again.

If it is a hi torque 1/2 " gun, it is same gun as 3/4 , but with different anvil.
You could swap circuit board over for test purposes

What model numbers?, the revision "B" are snapping the pinion pins straight out of the box on some guns.

Milwaulkee have redesigned it and made a poor job, ruined a great gun.

At the moment on these two it’s electrical. Been on a fishing boat and got soaked by salty water. I’ll get some pictures of the corrosion when I strip down the 3/4 inch one. Thanks for the heads up on the pinion pins though.

I would do two trips of everything through an ultrasonic bath with deionised water (battery refill, ironing water, local long pole window cleaner), no drying in between, and then leave in a warm place (airing cupboard, closed box with a 60W bulb in it) for a day or so.

I considered putting in the USC but wimped out It can’t make it any worser

PCB mount connector, if you do a google search images with the number of pins then sooner or later you'll find it.

IE PCB mount connector 2 pin

Is it a "One Key" Gun, that battery will be to retain data when changing the main battery.

Quick update. 1/2 inch is now working perfectly. Being in a warm house has “dried” things out. The 3/4 inch is another story. It’s refusing to do anything other than click when you press the trigger. I’ve cheekily emailed Milwaukee UK to see if they’ll do me a deal on the parts needed. Don’t think they will. I can get the whole trigger assembly from Ireland for under £100, so it’s not a huge issue. You’ve got to try though

Got the new trigger assembly ordered. Coming from Ireland, should be here tomorrow. £100 and a bit of my time cant be bad for two impacts. Need to acquire sockets now !

Got another issue with it now though, no sockets Youngest son can get a set off the cheapo tool van next time it’s in their yard
