Rotary Table Query

I have just bought this 6" rotary table to complement the Harrison, it was £60 as it needs cleaning up, but I thought that was a good price.
Instructions on the info plate say to me this is the disengagement of the worm gear, but I think I am missing something, is the locking lever missing?
Overall, it was stiff upon turning but a quick WD has freed it up and will put more effort into it as there is no backlash and looks decent quality.

Would have thought screwing that down locks it engaged. Try rotating the whole assembly around the shaft.

The stud just seems to rotate, it's described as a plunger, but doesn't seem to plunge

think mines spring loaded you just pull it up to disengage

Last thing I wanted to do was prise something needlessly... I've been offered this for £250 as well off the same guy, 6" dividing head... What do you think

It's a Harrison Mill, I work in a place that uses me to make parts, simple stuff at the moment but I'm a quick learner and this may develop, seems a decent price that would hold?

Even with what's in the photo, it is a steal at that price. If the plates are missing, it is likely to be the least used ones for uncommon divisions and they are easy enough to make.

At this stage in your machining career, I would be asking for backplates (chucks are a bonus) to fit it rather than extra plates. A four jaw chuck on a DH is tedious to set up.

All good advice, all to easy to get carried away when you turn up to buy something and the guys downsizing, the seller did mention its a b@llache to set up compared to a 3 jaw, I could use the 4 jaw on the Kerry lathe was my thinking, I have an unmachined backplate ready.

Some dividing heads have slightly odd spindle noses to them, so it is finding or making a new one for the head that could be a challenge.

For stuff up to about 30mm dia., you can hold a square or hexagon ER40 collet block in the 4-jaw. Dial it in once and leave it there as long as possible.

Ended up getting the dividing head for £200, a job came in for milling flats on a shaft, seemed to be the right tool for the job
