Hoping ‘the Oracle’ can help here. My old neighbour who now lives in a very old house with original servants quarters and the old servant bells etc, had a blockage recently.
He managed to shear the bolts on the inspection elbows as someone had used steel bolts and not brass bolts. Anyway, I managed to remove the old studs and fit brass bolts and cleared the blockage. Anyway, he has a water softener and the 4 inch pipe that is after the softener outlet, has started to leak from tiny pinholes. Obviously due to the salt washing along the pipe. To replace the pipe work would be difficult and he doesn’t really want to change the general look of the basement. Any ideas as to what we could use to effectively wrap the cast iron pipe and seal them.
