My machine is a 343-190 planer thicknesser. Big old capacitor screwed onto exterior of Motor. It has been ally can type but rotted out and can see the film inside . The writing seems to indicate 25uf 440v type. The motor is a 220v. Will one of these capacitors with plastic case from ebay do? Cap has a set screw on end and 2 fly leads with brown and blue on them. Somebody mentioned not using a polypropylene cap. I don't know what they meant.

its only a case for the cap whether its aluminium or plastic. most motors are plastic now
Yeah I thought he meant the contents of the cap. I have heard of metal film and oil filled caps along with the polypropylene. I got a brown and a blue fly lead. Will that cap above be marked plus and minus, with the brown being plus and blue minus.......so I can make 2 leads up with spades?

No. It is running on 50Hz AC, so you'd have to swap the leads over fairly smartish if plus and minus was important to its operation. It is non-polarised so it does not matter.
What you might have to do is put it on and see if the motor runs in the correct direction. If it does not, then swap the leads over.

Doesn't matter - one lead or terminal is for one pole of the Cap, and one for the other. As stated- in use it's switching polarity 50x per second, so which way around is moot
