Can anyone reccomend a car GPS Tracker?

Had the Landy at work one day last week and work colleague who is also a Landy owner asked if I had a Tracker fitted, he said he bought one for about £30 plus a cheap pay as you go giffgaff sim card and showed me his cars location on his phone.

Despite rarely using my car anywhere not local at that price it seems a no brainer?

Had a look on Amazon and too many chose from, anyone got any advice?

I'm using this one in my caravan with a £6 giff gaff sim deal

Does your Landy have an obd2 port?
If so you can get trackers which plug in there and it’ll be charged as well from the supply
If not I’d get a wired in one that you can hide internally.
I can’t recommend any as I’ve never had one.

Seems as though any thief worth their salt will locate a tracker and remove it. At least that's what's been happening to the caravans stored on the farm site that my workshop's on.
That's if they want the whole thing, often they seem to just ransack the caravans for parts. Or maybe they appear to have been ransacked when in fact thieves couldn't find the tracker & so left them....
As you can see I'm speculating but the point I'm trying to make is that a tracker is probably more of a comfort to you than a deterrent to a thief.

Trackers work, they work extremely well, so much so that standard practice for vehicle thieves is now to steal something and park it up somewhere unobtrusive for three days. If owner/Police haven't come for it by then, they are fairly sure it hasn't a Tracker on it. They have to be well hidden, a black box with wires from it going to the battery is a bit of a giveaway. I did a training course on fitting them and the main point was hide them well.

It does, but it is clearly visible, that's what put me off using it

I sometimes watch a tracking company in action on youtube and they have found a couple of Range Rovers with the inside ripped apart looking for the tracker, example

as long as you want it to work for, that is the cost for the month to month connectivity contract.

An Apple Air tag is a cheap option, Batts last a yr, just need your friendly car thief to have an Iphone, he'll do all the work for you

wonder why insurance costs are high

These days you would think its a feature that could be built into the cars own sat nav ... report it stolen and have the dealer ping the sat nav and ask it where it is ,,, a hidden feature that cant be turned off ,,, couldnt be that tricky

actually the fave is to flood them ,,, the insurance companies dare not put them back after flood damage [ brakes , stability , abs and the likes ] and the cost of an engine and all the modules is crazy ,,, the last one I saw being done the insurance guy dipped the water in the engine before ok ing the claim ,,,, he was looking for chlorine , so if one gets killed that way be sure to use ditch water as they have gotten wise to the hose in the airbox trick.

My caravan comes with a factory fit trakker system. £306 for 5 years subscription but thieves just remove the system as its fitted in the same place every time. It's why I bought a battery powered one I can leave anywhere in the van. Its USB charged so I charge it everytime we go away in it.

It sends me a text if it's moved with a GPS location via Google maps. I can text it if I want it's location too. It also texts when the battery is at 20%

I like it so much I'm thinking of getting one for my car.

A friend of mine had a tracker on his caravan 20 odd years ago so probably the infancy of trackers?, his was stolen and it was tracked to a travellers site, when the police recovered it they asked him to have a look round it to confirm it was his, when he looked inside he said pretty much every cupboard was stuffed full of new clothing etc., still had the price tags on them, police reckoned it was all shoplifted stuff.

I just wouldn't bother with one for my car, my pushbike is worth twice as much and if there are any goods in my car I am always two up and never leave anything in it, never.
