I've used epoxy resin mixed with glass powder to make an epoxy type glass based filler....it sets rock hard and is a lot less mess than using the mats + it's far easier to shape it too.
....won't be as strong I think but I don't think you need strength. The glass powder can be bought online and you just add it to the resin mix get the consistency you need (just stir it in basically during mixing)....you can go from liquid to almost solid depending on the quantity of glass that you add (handy for gap filling).
You need to wear a mask with the glass powder as I imagine it ain't good to snort!
