Lovely part of the world, but a bit bleak in winter I suspect. The line went from Riccarton Juntion (on the Carlisle to Edinburgh route) through Kielder and down to Hexham.
The Kielder section was flooded when the Kielder dam was built.

Thats a great piece of road on a bike too. But a fair hike to the pub!

Been through there a few times. It's a lovely part of the world. Nearest pub is in Kielder village, and a couple of hotels in Newcastleton, plus a Spar. All about 10 mins drive away. Hawick, and Jedburgh are 20 mins drive away.

There was another railway property a bit further south forsale just between Kielder and Deadwater right on the line too, but it looks like its either sold or removed from the market.

Theres a bungalow forsale too over looking the reservoir at Gowanburn, Kielder.

Dionne and Neil run the Anglers in Kielder beers ok, food is dire. The pies from the butchers in Newcastlton are really good too. Theres community garages at both Newcastleton and Kielder too.

Theres a pub at Bonchester Bridge too. You can get hobby weld gas there too!

That bl**dy thing ran at the back of my house in Eskdalemuir, Castle O’er forest. I used to get some spectators parking in my garden and taking a short cut up to the rally. Didn’t mind until an idiot parked In front of our garage, our car was still in it! The good old days

I have my own stretch, but have you seen the cost of track. My bit is near enough-a mile so could get some speed up!

And its southern Scotland so-not that cold!

Actually its not as bad as I thought a friend of my Mrs and her hubby bought a rail carraige to make into a holiday cottage as they have a bit of branch line through their farm, it wasnt too bad for 40 foot or what ever, about 1500 quid delivered.
