Mix of Laziness and lack of experience to figure out the frying sound of a mig welder

I bought a telwin telmig 200/2it has 6 steps from 35 amps to 180 amps (220a max).
I don´t know where is the sweet stop for welding. The machine has no chart (my lincoln 170 has one ) and i don´t have no welder of 131/ 135 around.
I know that the torch position and travel is very important also but i just want a big rule of thumb for the 6 steps that this machine has.
I can measure the iddle voltage of each step.

start in the middle ,,, then turn it up or down to suit. Same sort of rule as everything really.

i have to see if the voltage supplied to the motor varies acording to the stepper has my old 140 machine or not. My problem is figuring out the ideal amount of voltage and wire speed i can never know if the wire is to slow or to fast.

Let someone else run a few beads and you fiddle with the controls - listen for that frying bacon sound. Set mine by ear more than sight.

I never get frying bacon, more like a sharp loud staccato stuttering.

I've always associated a sharp loud staccato noise with too high a wire speed for the amps you're running.

its not about the sound of bacon frying, its about the smell of bacon frying......if you can smell it, you're hair is on fire

This is true....also...but frying bacon is a sensory delight and taste to most.....plus sets you up for the day
