What is this hammer for?

Found this whilst sorting through a shed that's being emptied or demolition and wondered what it would be used for. In case it's not clear from the photo, the two faces are at 90 degrees to each other. It is marked as 1 1/2 lb and is made in England. There is a maker's name but it is too feint to read. Length is about 5 1/2".
Any ideas what it would have been intended for originally?

Funny you should post this picture. Another skip rescue that I was cleaning up today. I also now have a small hand axe. I’ve never owned one. Always wanted one. I have no idea when I’ll use one. But I’ve got one.
Problem is, Pink Floyd’s Careful with that Axe Eugene keeps ear-worming me now.
And now, having said that. Maxwell’s Silver Hammer by the Beatles has sparked off.

Paint, rust and stuff like that.

Yes it allowed you to get into the knooks and crannies.

I got some of those from @imagedude.

I reground the edges on one to a more rounded shape and used it as a small forging hammer for silver. It was good 'cause you could easily hit across or along the piece, not that turning the piece needed a gantry and hoist

It's a debt collectors knee-capper hammer for dealing with defaulters when they are both standing up vertical and then a few moments later laying on the floor horizontal.

It's probably a hatchet, Eugene's axe was probably a Fender
Proper axes are big and need two hands.
