Proper Uses for a 'Waterpik'

Just in case you don't know, a Waterpik is a dental gizzmo which flosses you teeth with pulses of jetted water instead of Teflon tape.

I've been dismantling and re-building my Suffolk Punch engine. I know lots of guys cut their finger nails "back to the wrist", but if I do that my finger ends get really sore so I do allow the white bits to grow just a bit, but they look bad when filled with engine oil/crud and can be hard to clean.

Today, I put Swarfega behind my nails, left it a few minutes and then got out the Waterpik loaded with warm water; worked like a treat .

I'm sure there must be lots of other uses for Waterpiks beside flossing; any suggestions?

I thought you were going to say you used it to clean bits of your suffolk punch...

I normally use a decent scrubbing brush to clean my nails, not the useless nail brushes that are available. Decent gloves can prevent or at least reduce the dirt under your nails

I use it like a tiny pressure washer to clean around the plug and tap where they meet the porcelain.

I prefer your tip and shall try it tonight.

(I was expecting a description of cleaning out the carburettor though)

In the year 2000, in one large city, 700 thousand inhabitants, the water ran out. Generally ended. Hot summer. A month of water limit for drinking needs. My friend had a car wash with an artesian well. We got used to washing under a high-pressure water jet from Kārcher. If you stay a meter from the tip of the spear, it's safe. Great massage, perfect skin cleaning.

Up the nose and ears with these Waterpik type things is seriously dangerous, as they pack quite a serious punch!!!! Aiming at the soft tissue under the tongue is not recommended.

Cleaning the algae off rain gauges is one use. Better than using a tooth brush.

Might be useful for cleaning carbs.

I've not tried it, but skid marks above the waterline in the toilet bowl would surely succumb to the jet from a Waterpik!! ;-)

I think you may need a bit higher pressure to clear the ear wax if you have stuck it up your nose

Yes, it could be useful on a carb!!! As for its effect on soft tissue, you certainly would not want to get it straight in your eye; I absolutely always keep my glasses on when using it. Guess it could be good for car detailing too.

A good hair wash in the shower usually sorts my nails out.

Changed some bearings on my 6 foot flail mower this morning - old ones had to be cut and split with a grinder - dead mucky job - out this evening - need to look presentable - vigorous hair wash restored my manicure

Ive never used one but I doubt a small battery powered device designed for the mouth could damage soft tissues. Sure, I doubt it would be pleasant up the nose.

Use it as a portable bidet? Save a lot on bog roll

I never use gloves to load the dishwasher but it doesn't clean my nails

It may sound disgusting but this really works, I do it all the time

Not for a baldy like me it doesnt. However 2 days of beard stubble will beat any nail brush.
