Need a new tap wrench

I've got a cheapy tap and die set where the tap wrench handle is always coming undone. It doesn't see a lot of use so I've not bothered upgrading.
But I've gone and bought a m14 tap for a specific use. This doesn't seem to fit in my tap wrench...

I'd love a starrett tap wrench but I just can't justify the price.

I was all set up to get a couple of Starrett wrenches but it's clear they are not worth the money any more. They look nice and that's about it.

Picked up a couple of Moore and Wright ones on eBay for about £25... absolutely spot on.

yep all my replacements are from them including twist drills unless from autojumbles

Threadlock will sort that. I have a few cheapies, cut the handles down to fit over lathe.
Have a small one made by my dad as an apprentice which is nicer to use. Cant see any good apprentice made stuff on ebay at the moment.

These brands are usuallly reasonable quality with the 20% discount.. should fit m14.

Call me a butcher, but I've always preferred a bahco somehow i get it wrong with a proper tap wrench, but never with an adjustable. If more precision is needed for a deep hole, i follow the tap down with a centre on the tailstock, or in a pillar drill/mill.

I've found Eclipse good for tap wrenches. Not sure how the modern ones compare, but the older ones are good quality although not as nice as the starretts and M&W. I like Presto for die stocks too.

Just tapped for a grease nipple as per the stuff I fixed thread.

Used a small bacho and a tap follower
To do it.

ide second eclipse and having recently bought one off ebay and used it a few times can honestly say its definitely worth the £7 i paid!
