Is there such a thing as wire in different grades of stiffness?
I think the difference will be in the temper of the wire - i.e. whether the wire has been annealed (like TIG wire) or left in a work-hardened state after drawing. Maybe look for 'hard' or 'as drawn' wire? - There are probably official temper designations, but I don't know what they are.
(Being pedantic, if you're talking about bending it, it's the yield strength that matters, not the material stiffnes e.g. Young's modulus, which doesn't vary much between grades /pedant).
Yes wrong terminology there on my part. Yes the yield strength of this wire on the whisk is higher than the strength of the TIG wire.I think the difference will be in the temper of the wire - i.e. whether the wire has been annealed (like TIG wire) or left in a work-hardened state after drawing. Good pointStainless is notorious for work hardening. If that wisk has had a long or hard life, its current springiness will not represent its as new condition, so matching how it is now might not be the most appropriate way forward. Hence, you may need to go and twang a brand new one to assess the correct material to use.
Sorry, didn’t mean to take things off at a tangentwrong terminology
Yes that where these have gone.ours was 13 years old before it started snapping wires they tend to snap right at the point they enter to ali base plate.
Probably wouldn't work out much cheaper for the customer than buying new in that situation. When you do find the right wire change them all.
What wire did you use?ours was 13 years old before it started snapping wires they tend to snap right at the point they enter to ali base plate.

Unfortunately every manufacturer has different size shafts, locking pin sizes and bowl sizes. You have to go like for like more or less
Is this the same fitting/size
Would it be easier to repurpose this?
I meant either rob the wire or change the top jointUnfortunately every manufacturer has different size shafts, locking pin sizes and bowl sizes. You have to go like for like more or less
Then my catering experience says that you will be seeing it more often than you would like.Probably wouldn't work out much cheaper for the customer than buying new in that situation.

I don't make the decisions, the customer does. They often just want a temporary fix. If they all break off I imagine they'll then go and spend the money to buy newThen my catering experience says that you will be seeing it more often than you would like.
get a new one mate I replaced one of ours then the another broke so i did another ended up replacing 9 in the end then said balls and purchased a new whisk for £200 relaced the last feew that wasnt broken and its now a spare whiskI don't make the decisions, the customer does.
