I forgot to.post that I am fighting back. I have been taking photos of the queues at a large B & M to send in.

I had a phone consultation booked for my dad.
10.30 I also had a Doctors Appointment (yes they do exist) at 9.30.
I need to travel 15 mins to get to Dad's.

Day before I get a text reminder. Which said they could call 1 hour either side. So I phoned and said why not book it for 9.30 so we can make full use of the day.
I was told they very rarely phoned early.
25 past just sat down in doctors room and phone rings. Told him I had requested a note placed on the file to inform him phone at 10.30 or later.

No note existed....but to be fair he phoned back at 10.45.

Same Doctors I had my appointment at I had to drop a urine sample off so went in and spoke to reception. Grabbed a bottle and filled it up ( in the toilets)
Came back to reception and asked if the amitriptyline could be added to the repeat list so.I can use patient access to request it.
I was then told by reception to ring the prescription line but not till Thursday (this was monday) as they only work 2 days a week. I asked for the number and was given the same number as for everything. They one that has you upwards of number 15 regularly waiting and that's before you can choose the department you need..

So I asked for the practise manager and they had gone home at 4pm........I then asked for the complaints procedure. Guess what I had a call on my way to the car from said practice manager, apologising, and saying they will do what I asked at the start........wow.

Well yes, all fine and dandy if its so conjested you can't do more than 10 anyway. But I can't set my limiter less than 30, which means I will constantly be looking at the bloody speedo, not the road...

Could be worse @Parm - you could have the Welsh Government. All 30 speed limits henceforth will be 20s, there will be bumps, fines gallore, and quite possibly some added peple run over due to motorists trying to adhere to this ridiculous limit. Where I live of course the 60/70 jockeys will still do the same speed....
You of course need to be extra vigilant if you venture this side of the Severn, for reasons made clear in another post.

You will notice my new location.

All bills and documents presented in only one language and hence comprehensible.
Locally, a health service that works well and is responsive.
Road signs that can be read when driving within the speed limit.
Speed limits set in consultation with the Police Force and enforced by the same Force.
No Tafia equivalent.

BUT SWMBO is moaning because the Welsh Bus Pass only works in Wales and she has to wait to 67 to get an English one.

No, because those are 2 different departments. Same as Gordon Brown subsidising Diesel Duty to reduce CO2 emissions and save the polar bears, but increasing urban NOX and PM10, PM2.5 and reducing the lifespan of people.

From the other side: One of my spawn works part time and will not deal with anything outside work hours, if they'd wanted a full time job, 24 hours a day weekends included, they have taken one.

I'm on a couple of zero hours contracts, one with a PLC. I try not to contact colleagues out of hours or when I know it's they're not at work.

You know all those other posts on here along the lines of 'nobody went to their grave wishing they spent more time at work'? This is the result of a changing work/life balance and if it goes well then I see it as a postive thing.

The civil service doesn't sound like it's changed since I had to deal with county courts over 30 years ago, I'm shocked I tell you, shocked to my core.

I do.appreciate some people want to work part time. But that does not mean the company should provide a part time service. There should be a system where their work is taken over by others when they are not working.

If I'm on site or out of office for more than a couple of hours I set an auto reply explaining when I'm back and a suggestion to contact me by phone, including my number.

I rarely get calls but also keep my promise of returning emails when I'm back in the office

If I get an email in the evening or at a weekend I won't see it until the next working day, the phone and laptop remain turned off during non work hours. I have no need or desire to do work outside of work hours
