Today I acquired...........

A few days ago I aquired this , only took it off to sort the bolts out , , had been driving it , no idea it had happened ,so if anyone has a broken series land rover diff I can rob the diff carrier from ? , its in a 4x2 S2 so it's not mobile at all , don't even have a hand brake , its on stands , cheers

Another thing from the car boot sale yesterday, I didn't notice it on a stall where everything was £1, didn't see it until he changed it to "everything free". It's rusty, been on fire and needs some bits straightening out.

The part worn ,he buys in bulk from Germany,had 9mm on ,he tells me the laws there are tighter .

Next door neighbour came round the other day to say they were getting a new BBQ as old one was going rusty/on last legs.
He knew I made stuff and thought there might be some bits off it I could make use of.
Popped to have a look at the weekend.

The minimum tread depth required by law is set throughout Europe (EU) at 1.6mm for summer tyres and 5mm for winter tyres ....

... I personally change long before that, 1.6mm on a street with a bit of standing water after a rain shower doesn't get enough water out of the way fast enough.

BUT, in Germany there are further requirements regarding age in relation to certain vehicles (e.g.: if a car trailer is to be revalidated from 80 to 100km/h, the tyres must - among other requirements that must be met - be six years old or younger at the time of the certificate and with the same tread type on all tyres on one axle.

Further tightening applies to vehicles with a higher permissible gross weight and for passenger transport.

Same tread type on all tyres on each axle is a general rule for all cars.

I don't know your rules in this respect, but I can imagine stricter regulations in our country generally , see TÜV.
