Inspired by the tight wad thread thought we should have one for tools. With everyone’s wallets tightening and feeling the pinch due to rising costs etc.
Ok so I’ll confess I’m a total tool addict and spent a lot of time and cash on tools over the years for better and worse. Wasted quite a bit too in some circumstances. So to help the guys who want quality tools on a budget and those of us that are just starting out on out tool journeys. I thought we could start a thread showing either the best quality budget alternative or companies that make tools for
High end companies or share manufacturing facilities.
Want a snapon ratchet screw driver but don’t want to pay £80+ for one:
If proper searching is done even in the uk a lot of snapon tools can be had from Bacho and William’s at around 1/2 and even as little as a 1/4 of the price.
Another tip is to look for mechanics retirement sales or people who are moving out of a trade you want tools for and are selling off there collections, usually good quality tools and boxes can be had for cheap.
Get yourself a Halfords trade card if possible, Halfords sell some good quality tools at but possibly slightly over priced, these prices are made a good deal though if you can get yourself a trade card. There are many trades that qualify for one.
If looking at Facom tools check USAG tools the same set can sometimes be cheaper. But becareful can work the other way round too.
Buy tools with good reliable lifetime warranties, broke tools are a pain and having too payout for new ones makes your pain worse. Trust me been there got the TShirt.
