Pneumatic push fit fitting collet

So apart from dismantling and reassembling the kitchen, Ive removed the discovery suspension compressor and solenoid block for inspection/refurbishment.

The compressor is working but I have a refub kit anyway so will replace the piston ring and check the brushes and bearings.

The collet on the air outlet looks like its been broken for a while and possibly leaking. The fitting is built into the housing though.

Im wondering if I purchase a john guest fitting, whether the collet can be popped out and put into the air outlet, or would it be better to thread the outlet and fit a complete male stud fitting ?

Perfect. Any truck garage will have a replacement fitting. They’re only a couple of quid. Easier and more reliable than making a Frankenstein one.

Its not the threaded in one thats dead, its the one built into the outlet

You should be able to buy a push in pipe union (the correct size) from a commercial vehicle factor and swap the pipe clip/O ring over to the compressors fitting.

I've done it on the road side when a hgv's broken down, I'm not sitting in a puddle longer than required, because its always raining when they blow...

What's the diameter of the pipe 5 or 6 mm, I have an old P38 air suspension valve block on the shelf (somewhere), I could take the pipe clip/O ring out of that if it would help you, if it's the same.

But if you can find a good local commercial vehicle factor or a hydraulic pipe factor/company like Pirtek locally they should have them on the shelf, you might have to buy a couple in a pack, but its the parts you want just make sure the grey clip is the same design with 4 slits, even if you have to cut the outer body up to get the bit out.

There are a few of designs of these type connectors, they are not interchangeable parts wise.

Ive rebuilt the compressor and put new dryer media in it. Also tested the valve block. I think that air fitting with the dodgy collet is an over temperature air outlet and not the main outlet so I dont suppose its critical that the fitting is fully air tight. Ive super glued the collet back together and will assemble with a bit of silicon

Been looking at the files on the discovery 2 fb page. Its the exhaust for when the vehicle lowers, so it doesnt have to be pressure tight

Looks like you might have given the armature commutator a rub over to clean it up a bit, I would suggest that you very gently scrape the gap in between the commutator segments just to cut back the rolled over edges.
