Is it ok to mount a plug socket upside down?

yes it is when you get called out at 2 am in the morning on callouts and have to pull half the appliances out to unplug them and find the fault its plain bad practice, still as long as your happy with it good luck

If it is then I've a few sockets to adjust. I've even installed one sideways as that's how the cables run into to cupboard from the washing machine and tumble drier.

What I'd like is a standard 3 pin plug but with the cable entering at the top of the plug not from underneath.

if its local l just give the folks advice to unplug washing machines kettle tumble driers turn oven off and hobs. 9 times out of ten its an app[liance thats plugged in causing the problem and they can solve it themselves without getting someone out i can make enough on the 1st hour during the day on small jobs without doing after hour stuff. yea can get 60 quid on a callout but not realy interested and dont need it . if u cant help people out now and then its a poor do

thats very true its nice to make someone happy now and then in times of distress with just a couple of minutes on the phone and advice and there sorted

I'd originally bought marked up grid switches to mount above the worktop, but decided against them to keep to back wall a bit clearer.

I think they must all be bottom exit to confirm to the BS - I think it is supposedly to stop them being yanked out by the cable.
It's not top exit, but there is (or was, not sure if it is still made) a rear exit duraplug CPP133 - albeit not BS compliant.

sockets arent suposed to be behind apliances unless they have isolator switches above that are accessible. take washing machines that develop a fault and your rcd trips half the wiring then it needs to be unplugged and pulled out before you can get the supply back on

It's resting on a baton, but I've got a gable end on order. Due in mid next week.
