Holiday to Hungry it is then !!luckilly my dentist still does NHS and even that aint cheap, recently one of my front teeth became loose and abandon ship into a cheese sandwich, dentist wants £3,000 for a new one.

I had a front one out in the middle of covid. There was an abscess and they thought the tooth was loose so I thought oh the extraction will be simple…. Goodness me that was about 30 mins of awful noises and lots of tugging. He explained that he had to do it really gently to have the best chance of the implant being good. Anyway. That was one of the positives about lock down and wearing a mask - I didn’t mind wandering about with no front tooth for a yearI've actually had that. An extraction of a back tooth, the big African chap [not that that's relevant] ended up with his knee on my chest because he kept pulling me out of the chair.I think the problem was, the root was actually wrapped round my mandible.
we try and get ours done when we holiday in spain , no long waits for an appointment and a fraction of what it costs here , just like getting a hair cut , you walk up and are seen straight away or same day for a reasonable fixed price

Mine was the same initially - a course of antinbiotics got rid of the pain but it came back a couple times.. so i used paracetamol etc for a while.. then the pain just went. Great i thought. Turns out the abcess had gone through the jawbone and “relieved itself” - the pressure had gone so the pain went. But the infection keeps going apparently.. Only option was extraction and implant - and they filled the holes in my bone with cow bone apparently.I had an abscess a few months ago, tried ignoring it but it pushed a wisdom tooth down and meant that every bite made me hit the roof. Went to the dentist, same practice I've been with for decades now under corporate ownership and changes staff every few months, so I got a young Asian guy who looked at the tooth, wobbled it with his finger (ouch) and said "Yes, the best thing is for me to take it out now." I asked him if it looked okay and he said yes, so I suggested maybe all it needed was a course of antibiotics to kill the infection. Eventually he conceded it was worth a try but I'd probably be back begging him to whip it out, and wrote me a prescription for some Apixoban. Within three days the abscess had gone, the tooth was securely back in place and - oh look, I'm still using it.

So I had to drill the old stuff out with my fake Dremel. Success! Been in 12mths +. Checked whilst at the dentist for extractions. He tapped the bridge and commented quite proudly how his work had endured.
