A classic late night internet purchase landed me an Arboga bench top drill press that arrived this morning on a pallet.
Heavy thing and seems a lot more solid than the Clarke metalworker I’ve been getting by with but feeling unimpressed by.
Arc of shame isn’t too bad for something that must have seen a few holes
Has a dual speed three phase motor and gear head
Looks pretty rapid in high speed
The head rises and falls rather than the table with a ratchet in the handle locked by a pin when clamping in place which seems pretty a neat feature
Only one of the handles seems to have suffered damage so will try and get something knocked up for the rise and fall
This is what has me puzzled till I get it apart
It has a three phase cable going into the motor but a single phase plug going in to the body… no idea what it’s doing, all I can think is at some point it had a work light retrofitted?
Never seen one of these before so will be a bit of a voyage of discovery getting it cleaned up and then sorting something to let me run it off single phase (might have had a drink before I bought it and thought a vfd would work, not thinking to check if it was a dual voltage motor first…..)
Any thoughts or voices of experience welcome!
