electric swinging gate closeur......

this is a bit urgent....
in the last few days had 3 drive in's by scumbags wanting scrap.....
now have 3 x 1ton bags of stone across the drive....
BUT
it's a bit inconv.....
the nearest elec supply is over 400m away, so looking for ideas for a 12-24v battery system with a solar charge unit....
plus with a remote.......
it's on a good slope so it will tear out clutches over time if it's just padlocked with the hill starts....
it'll be a simple swinging gate with a top bar and angular support/stiffener.....
it's just to stop random drive-in's........

any help appreciated....ta....

There is nothing "simple" about it. I have a very similar setup, drive on an incline so it opens out. Worked fine for years and in the last 12 months the gate remotes will not make the gate operate, very frustrating especially the earache from management.
Do not buy a BFT Mitto system if I were you, I can get absolutely NOBODY to come out and look at it, not even the original installers!

I will say though that being hydraulic it operates a heavy swing gate with ease.

You can get all the gate openers and controls in 12v and run the lot off a car battery with a solar charger. Lots of farmers use them, hide the battery and charger unit away from the gate.

any cars vans and trailers will keep it open as long as there not based on a wagon with a long wheel base otherwise it will close half way through from first wheel to second wheel

the controler of the gate wont open until the selonoid springs back out so no keyfob no gate opening end of no matter if you drive onto the gate opener its not going to open as the selonoid pin locks the gate closed

a very simple system

access only by side gate for postman if you want it to have one there

theres also a slide gate version as well both unpowered gate openers

the only power needed would be the locking pin and keyfob reciever controller

That is a satellite positioning actuator.
Do a search on the Bay for satellite linear actuator, and get a huge choice back.
Most 12v, but because they have DC motors 12v will run the 36V ones as well just slower.

Only yesterday I did some repairs to my parents new lane/gate, (they've waited 30 years for, that's another story)
That should be remote controlled, of some sort, solar powered, and ideally internet communication/cctv for the postman and any deliveries.
I will be watching with interest.

There is nothing "simple" about it. I have a very similar setup, drive on an incline so it opens out. Worked fine for years and in the last 12 months the gate remotes will not make the gate operate, very frustrating especially the earache from management.
Do not buy a BFT Mitto system if I were you, I can get absolutely NOBODY to come out and look at it, not even the original installers!

I will say though that being hydraulic it operates a heavy swing gate with ease.

If the remotes are still working near the gates then check the aerial and coax or just piggy back something like this into it

It won’t if it’s a decent gate with a sensor to stop it closing

Can’t remember seeing a gate that didn’t have one

stupid question have you tried new battery's in the remotes if so try to see if a garage has a IR checker to see if remote is working or weak

OK then would a radio pick up the RF for checking by interference if working or not or is it beyond the bands of normal radio

Google says key fobs are usually 433MHz, an FM radio would be no good but a USB SDR should pick it up easily, I'm not sure you could do much with it other than confirm there actually is some RF signal coming out though.

how many years ?

in all that time did you pay for yearly services ?

i suspect not, instead you did it yourself
