Sorry I thought I had linked the welder recall page, I hate trying to do these things on a phone, much prefer using a PC.View attachment 350826
They don't appear to be welding machines...
Yes you linked the correct page, I was just amused that whoever wrote the article had put a picture of washing machines next to a headline about welding machinesSorry I thought I had linked the welder recall page, I hate trying to do these things on a phone, much prefer using a PC.
The fuse it the problem. A nice copper slug does a much better job.In all my years i have never made a 13a plug explode... must try harder
Typical solid fuse
They do it all the time
I wonder what they mean by a "counterfeit cable". Or indeed why a defective fuse could cause a power surge. (Of course I understand that it won't provide correct protection, but that's not what they say).
Just FYI my MMA set came with no fuse in the 13A plug, but they supplied a 20A among the accessories. Naughty. No idea if the mains cable is "counterfeit".
Nah - it was too thin to make a decent connection in the fuse carrier. I found a 0.6 mig tip fitted better. Did try a 1.2 but it melted. There’s more copper in the 0.6!The fuse it the problem. A nice copper slug does a much better job.
@Windy Miller is that still in the mill? Has it exploded yet.
I think the heat has faded the 1 in the 13A a littleWith a 3A fuse, no less.

I used to have a 1/4" HT cut down straight shaked bolt in my 13a plug of my Buzz Box, it never gave a problem.....or blew.....The fuse it the problem. A nice copper slug does a much better job.

In this particular case the wording seems to be directly drawn from the Government's report ...That is the high standard of technical communication you always get from 'electrical safety first', dumbed down to the point of talking nonsense.
