Calling them aviation spanners doesn't make a great deal of sense.
Access is often so poor that longer spanners are a nightmare and if you're putting a spanner on it it's probably not particularly tight anyway.
I had XL spanners...I cursed them regularly.

Yeah I don't get the title but I didn't decide it so......
I really like mine use them very often, they are great for gaining access in narrow areas were you can drop the nut out the bottom, but you couldn't get your hand and a normal length spanner.
Beside fuel tanks and the air receiver strap are common examples
I'll do everything I can to not remove more than I have to, I want to be done and off

I have a few of these, they weren't often used but were very handy in those situations you describe, particularly the 1/4-5/16....which I have a matching snap on version with angled ends too. They are much longer than even XL spanners.
Wouldn't mind some in metric. (I believe they do versions with angled ends too)

If they turn fasteners without damaging then then there's nothing wrong with them.
True enough. I only use them to hold stuff inside box sections. The chrome on them scratches really easily so I’m not sure I would trust them with a “full grunt” pull to undo something tight.

The Facom 440s which have been mentioned a few times are comfortable in the hand, but I’d echo what has been said about them being rather short which can be an issue once you get to larger sizes (say 19mm and upwards).
Somebody mentioned Hazet, I have a few 600Ns and the handles are particularly thick and quite comfortable to hold. My most comfortable spanners to use however are my Elora 205s which are superb, I’d highly recommend them.
One thing worth noting is that when it comes to comfort, the shape of the handle is more important than the thickness. My “everyday” metric spanners are Unior 120s, which although reasonably thick have sharply angled corners so I don’t find them all that comfortable to hold truth be told (they’re otherwise really nice spanners though).
I can post some comparison photographs if you like.

Stahlwille make lovely feeling spanners, they used to do some really nice alloy steel spanners that felt lightweight but were incredibly strong.
Otherwise, it's hard to want more than the Facom 440, they're relatively "budget" spanners if you shop around.
My "nice" spanners are King Dick. They aren't as comfortable as facom 440, but are a little bit longer.

I have two britool sets, imperial and a metric set of those "aviation" spanners, bloody brilliant when you need them,
newer metric set is not as nice to use as the older style britool stuff, very sharp edges just like the facom set posted above,

Ive a set of deep offset rings Ive had for thirty years , I dont use them often but they are nice when I do , light alloy and thin rings , comfy in the hand too. A box of britool I never use and my work box is snap on , boat box is kennedy great value for money but not dear enough to worry about with salt water and the odd pipe / hammer treatment.
