You can get car and truck tyres to do that too if you run them under inflated…
MotoGP for sure (& quite likely WSB & BSB etc but not certain) - have very rigid minimum tyre pressure rules. Caught with an under-inflated tyre results in exclusion/penalty.
Anyone whose ever driven/ridden with a soft tyre snd then checked it will know how incredibly hot they can get (and that's at road speeds) - so imagine the heat and stress an under-inflated racing tyre endures.
22psi (presumably at predetermined minimum tyre carcass baseline temperature) is still a low pressure by any typical yardstick - the only thing I have/had where I can run pressures that low - is my Mountain Bike!

When I was racing the tyre pressure was 30 front and 29rear, cold prior to tyre warmers. I tried using lower pressures for the rear and found that they would wear very poorly. So stuck with that, didn't change pressures for soft or medium compound tyres. Did a check on pressures after coming in from a race and they were up around the 36ish at the rear. This was over 20 years ago, haven't taken it that seriously any more. Work commitments and found that when you crash it hurts

22psi is still very, very low. Trackday pressures as advised by the manufacturers are in the region of 29 psi, and the universal 'cover your ar$e' recommended road pressures are 36 psi Front and 42 psi Rear from pretty much every manufacturer.

If you think 22psi is low , read all of this. In fact the recommended factory pressures for my Greeves were 22psi.

Not for race tyres they're not. Slicks are not uncommon at 12psi cold on formula single seaters. Or not till they brought in control tyres and pressures anyway.
Even the buggy runs 12psi front, 18 rear and that's on knobblies.
That's the issue with racing, generally it's faster to run as low a pressure as you can get away with whilst still keeping the tyre in check and adjust the suspension to suit. All too easy to point fingers at the manufacturers instead though...
The OE Dunlop Qualifiers on my bike 'chunked' badly in the heat of a Portuguese summer. After some lurid slides I chucked them less than half worn for PR4s. No problems since.

Silverstone race bike 1965. Dunlop triangulars.
Superstock race Padgett bikes were second and third, so assume tyre pressures were sorted.

Dunlop automotive tyres was sold to Goodyear a few years back but Dunlop Aircraft Tyres are still going and doing quite well in the new, OEM and retread business.
