Odd ball stuff

Looking for a simple mundane 8mm x 1.25 metric tap for a job on the boat, of course the 1st cut one i lent to someone last year & have forgotten who.
Now a few years ago i cleared an old engineers garage & ended up with a lot of drills & taps & dies, a few months ago more such stuff came my way.
So i start searching, No luck the only two 8mm taps i found are broken or very blunt. So i phone my wifes cousin, He has a set of metric taps so brings them round, Then i find three brand new 8mm taps in boxes I didnt know i had, except these are left hand thread!
We also found a 3/4" BRASS tap, what on earth is that? Also 13/16 x 20 BSF, some right odd sizes!
Possibly spark plug sizes so may be of some use. Thats jus the half of it there are all sorts of obscure sizes, I shant throw them out though.
If anyone needs 8mm left hand thread taps you know where to ask!

3/4" brass is 26tpi. Almost cycle thread except that it has a 55° angle and cei is 60°.

All diameter brass, (BSB), threads are 26tpi, are they not?

My wife is the opposite of a hoarder, stand still too long in my house and you will end up in the bin

The same wifes cousin pops in again today, "I need a tap for this part" large hole with chewed up thread" I again open the drawer full of oddball taps. He says "Why dont you throw them all away you will never use them".
But a few seconds later Behold! I only have the right one he is looking for! Now where would we be if i had chucked them all?
I have noticed this attitude from guys, particularly those with a corporate background, they see no reason to keep stuff as they just order it in when they need it. Then think a tidy empty space is better than a space full of spares or parts. But often they are stuffed when they realise they have scrapped or chucked it.
Dont seem to learn though.
