Just had two sets break apart when they went over a knot.
Am I doing something wrong or need better blades.

I use trend Makita and deawalt blades.I was planing new pine with the blades that came with the planer, then a cheap spare set from Screwfix. Both sets ended up like this.

What sort of depth are you trying to take in one passJust had two sets break apart when they went over a knot.

Again. Shouldn't be an issue. What sort of depth are you trying to take in one pass
My Rage2 chopsaw will go through 6mm angle iron easily. On some knots it can really slow down and stops cutting the wood. Incredible.I only use the multipacks from Ebay but never had a problem with breakage.
Could you have been feeding too fast?
1mm should be fine but slow down over knots as they can be stupidly hard.
Only time Ive chipped one with out hitting metal was trying to rive too much off an old pine door.Again. Shouldn't be an issue.
My 110v Makita will happily take 4mm passes through softwood knktts and all. (Dual blade)
Keeping up with the chip removal is harder.
