plastic use /landfill hypocrite's?

so in the name of being green and not killing kittens , i cant have a paper or plastic bag at the shop to use for good reason and were brainwashed into thinking its terrible to use plastic

so how come everywhere i look theres jubillee bunting , plastic hats n cups and all manner of rubbish thats going straight to the landfill after being shipped from china? how come thats alright ? gawd save the queen and we can turn a blind eye to it all ?

shouldnt stuff like this and halloween tat be taxed to hell ? i get it trying to limit use but surley we cant be bring filthy ships full of toot over to fill the dumps , seems to me im alright jack as long as im making a buck out of someone

We have a McDonalds near us and the amount of rubbish from there is dreadful. This morning was particularly bad. Fast food chains should be getting fined to pay for the council to tidy up. One thing I can't stand is folk littering. This attitude that someone has to come behind you to tidy things up.

Aye, and I agree but you can hardly blame the fast food folk for the actions of their customers. It's a generation which has been given to think that 'someone' (unspecified) will clean up after them. I blame lazy parenting.....

I'm sure I've read that McDonalds actual have staff who clean up litter outside their premises.

Australia is now experiencing some quite inhospitable climates.

I'm wondering quite how far it will have to go before there is universal acceptance that the behaviour of humans actually may have some effect on the environment.

"but we had ice ages before", as mentioned by anyone who doesn't understand rate of change. You can fly in a plane at 500mph, but try getting to that speed in 0.2 seconds and it will be a little different.

I suspect nothing much will change until the flooding reaches wall st. And even then the wealthy will just buy houses on the tops of hills.

Go to any country layby in suitable range of a McDonald's and there will be McDonald's litter.

I've already got one of those and I can tell you it's too windy!
I think all manufacturers should be taxed according the damage their particular products cause to the environment. Therefore more sustainable packaging equals less tax. I bet fast food outlets would stop using the millions of expanded polystyrene that are always blowing around in favour of something better.

If Matt Handcock's pub landlord (the chap who was awarded the crazily valuable PPE contract despite having no prior experience) had some environmentally sound packing company, maybe it would be different.

There's nothing wrong with plastic as a product, it's the disposal that's the problem. Look at many countries in Asia, they just chuck it in the nearest river and the plastic waste has gone. Problem is, it ends up in the ocean. Some people don't seem to care about their surroundings and will drop litter/fly tip almost on their doorstep, trying to make them see sense would be a thankless task.

Most of their plastics are shipped there by UK councils. They expect us to recycle and then ship it off to dodgy countries!
