Hi everybody
So I am prepping my car for paint now.
I was on an FB group and showed them a pic of this bonnet I DA'd with 80 grit and they were all like.. "now you gone that far might was well go back to factory sealer"
May I ask what is the stage before "gone that far"?
I am not adding 2k epoxy primer, but using 2k high build primer then single stage paint and 2k clear.
Do I need to remove all the clear before the primer or do I just need to scuff it hard with some grit on the da and corners etc by hand.
Reason I ask is that while it's easy enough get the flat bonnet down to primer.. its very tough to get the outside edges etc.. and I don't believe that body men go through that much labour for respray?
Dare I say they are scuffing the corners with sanding sponge or scotch?
I'm not trying to cut corners and do want a good finish.. but I got kind of annoyed listening to the purists etc.
Some photos of the bonnet. The final one is down to primer / dealer and I'll be damned if I'm taking the whole car down to this lol. I guess if this level is needed, I'll be getting a 75mm pistol sander.
P.s. sorry for rant.. writing this on my phone.
P.ps. I'm aware that 80 might even be a bit harsh.. even before HB primer, is it.
Thanks a lot.
