Replace them every time too. They cost under 50p each.
I dont like buying French, but I will say Michellins Road 5s are excellent and the only tyre I will use on the bike in winter. Wet or cold weather use and oil resistance they are miles better than anything else.

I since found out that Michelin advise using all metal valves with those type tyres, due to the higher than 60 psi pressures.
Apparently normal rubber valves are only good for 60 psi, who knew?
I checked with the place I had my new tyres fitted and they knew nothing about it.
My new Brian James trailer tyres have max 90 psi but have rubber valves, as did my old Ifor Williams, all very strange!
I must haver about 20 tyres running rubber valves at 100psi, never had a problem or heard of needing metal valves

Standard rubber pull in tyre valves - 42mm length x 11.5mm (hole) - are rated at 4.5bar (64.8psi).

Mine have these little short fat ones, still a rubber base but more metal than a normal rubber valve.
High pressure type apparently.

Just checked, and they're high pressure types, which are the type fitted to my Brian James trailer, learning all the time here.

What is the vehicle?I know because they have not been changed since the vehicle was delivered in November 1948. I remember a puncture in one rear tyre in the late 1950s - I had the job of inflating it with the Dunlop foot pump (which still resides in my workshop, but not used much used these days). Hard work for an under 10 year-old as the stroke is long and so, therefore, the height of the pump when fully returned by the fairly strong return spring.

Following on from my post #21, I got the new tyres fitted to the rears this a.m.. When I retrieved them from storage [under a cover, next to the shed 
] I had difficulty identifying those which were due to be replaced 
, so another matching two ordered from Camskill Tyres.
When the chap removed the one Winter wheel which has been slowly losing pressure [due to a puncture I'd assumed] and which I was going to leave with him to fix, we discovered that the inner wall was split and there was a small 'blister' on it.
He thought it had been damaged by hitting a pothole, although the rim isn't marked at all - a lucky escape methinks.
So, off to try to find a matching Winter Khumo tyre in preparation for the snows to come. Never rains but it pours, eh?
