Hello, I made the mistake of examining the rear suspension arm bearings on my Citroen DS. Lifting the arm it fell a little notchy.
Now it is apart I can feel some brinelling on the outer race of the tapered roller bearing. The problem is that the outer race is machined directly into the hub, there is no outer race to drift out.
Most of the damage is to one side of the hub. The hub mounting is by three bolts, unfortunately they are asymmetrically place, so I can't rotate the hub.
New parts are not available for a 1972 car. I intended to renew the caged rollers, plenty of grease and put it all back together. The total movement of the suspension is about 30 degrees. It isn't a high speed application (maybe at 90mph over Belgian pave).
Any other suggestions?
Thanks
