The NR20 tig torch, as it arrived, its leaky.. loosely assembled kit of parts. It appears a common problem that the face of the swivel head is rough - its not turned and a bit of a loose fit in the sillicone handle.

First thing was to file it flat and smooth, then I stole an oring from a wp17 back cap. Using two back caps for leak testing.

I notice the banjo screw the oring seals ok but its still not the best fit. I added a chunky green pyrex lense oring in the gap behind the red oring. Result is I can have it slightly loose without leaking - ofcourse for electrical contact it needs to be tight, but now Im confident I wont be wasting any extra gas.

ToT states that the identical looking CK banjo bolts fail where the plastic becomes brittle, atleast on the air cooled handles, so I'll turn a spare.

Sunday, the following day, I finished the sliding line support; and then a short while later fell backwards off of my A-framed ladder set up when one of the legs sunk into the grass, and ended up braking several ribs when I landed on the corner of a random breeze block I hadn't cleared away from the area. So, now I'll be having a few weeks of leisure time to chill out and keep track of what's happening on the forum.

I've done similar when the dog's lead acted as a bolass and I crashed onto the kennel roof. It's pretty painful.

I avoid pipework as much as I can, but it's inevitable sometimes. So made myself a set of flange pins to suit smaller flanges that take M8 to M12 bolts. Need to make another set, for M16+ later, but they will be aluminium.

Been stuck in the house sitting and sleeping upright in a chair for the past week without being able to get much comfort. Painful yeah, but it is what it is. I have experienced much worse from other injuries in life, but fortunately I have a great Wife who is takes good care of me, so its just a matter of time. I was lucky, at least a lung wasn't pierced.

So I managed to mix my tin of paint I ruined yesterday with some older paint of the same brand/colour. It's a little of semi gloss chassis black but considering the amount of thinners some div added by accident its about as good as its going to get.

I made some custom pipe fittings:



The outside tap has been annoying me for ages, it's not centred over the sink and the hose kinks where it has to run over the edge of the sink.


New tap over over sink, with a camlock outlet as it's part of my brewery;


And the old tap where the hose can get to it, plus a water meter. I've often wondered how much I waste pressure washing, etc, and I might be able to use it for measuring brewing water, it reads down to 100ml but I don't know how accurate that is.


Unfortunately the new tap, unless it's fully open, blasts a jet of water straight at your crotch, I think putting a little flow diffuser inside it will sort it. I also couldn't find any fibre washers and tried sealing the meter with copper ones, so it leaks.

Finally got the discs for my truck, made a 105mm hub nut socket out of some flat .

Chopped off the abs reluctor ring and attacked the disc retaining bolts with a gas axe X4

UNF taps arrived. Turned a power/water fitting with the 1/4-28 tap. I'll be using 16mm² weld cable rather than a fancy watercooled one, so it will just be crimped around with a copper tube. It will be a bloody tight fit in the handle with the denim sleeving. I had a few meters somewhere, I have lost it.

Made another rack for the bike but anodised it this time.

Also made a bit for an ice cream dispensing machine, handle fell off the last day and they were scrabbling about trying to fit it back in whilst the ice cream was merrily being dispensed

I was referred the job, she went to sculptural cast iron company who charge £90 an hour, they said 18 month waiting list, she went to my mate turner miller. He wasn't interested, sent her to me, I wasn't interested.

Here's my quote.
