I’m new to this community and looking for some advice, I’m trying to restore a a mk1 mx5 that’s got more rust than metal!
I have two welders, a Clarke 102 no gas and a Jasic 160.
On thicker metal (2mm+) I don’t seem to have much of a problem, I’m no professional welder though!
The trouble starts when trying to weld the 0.9mm panels, I’m blowing holes everywhere, I’m not sure if it’s the power settings, the size of wire, wire feed speed etc.
The no gas I’m using 0.9 wire on the lowest settings, the Jasic mig is even worse, although I’ve not turned the settings to the lowest yet, but this is using 0.8mm wire, the wire speed I can’t seem to get to slow down either.
I’m thinking of maybe trying 0.6mm wire in the Jasic to see if this helps and if possible slowing the wire feed somehow to see if this helps.
Any information you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
