I ran all of my cheap £40 collet set under new triangular Swiss files to remove all sharp edges where the slots had been milled then & lapped them in the nut & shaft using Brasso .. it made an amazing difference & was easy to see where the collets had been binding and going out of line . . I also had to carefully turn the hole in the nut from either side to put my own finished polished chamfer on the sharp edge as it had a tiny lip on the inside edge that kept catching on the collets .. the rough turned nut got all the tiny score marks take out where the collet poked through and again the sides of the hole were brasso'ed using a soft wooden rod to get the faces nice and polished . It made such a difference that I can almost hand tighten any rod or tube put in the collets , prior to the easing up I did it was a fight to even get them to start griping anything even whilst whilst using the C spanner .Acquired a hex nut ER-32 collet holder a while ago, last night I used it for the first time, turns out it's not very concentric, I was wondering why my part was turning out so weird.... Cheap chinese crap...

They just see them as the 'weigh it in value' there were 3 others but no room left in my vanShould be in the "bugs me" thread, but people will pay a grand for a tool cabinet, but then scrap something like this.![]()

Too right.Empty the van and get back up there!
me too. They're a perfect size for a workshop. I'm always on the lookout for Bisley drawers with the deeper drawer. There don't seem to be so many around, at least not in reasonable distance and for a reasonable price.
I think all the draws and cabinets in my workshop were resuced from the skip or scrapyard , I do bank closesures now and again they always have good stuffToo right.
These came from an office i worked in 20 years ago they shut down they were £400 each and they were 2 years old! There was over 200 I had about 20 of them !
