anti seize for stainless fasteners?

I'm using more and more stainless nuts and bolts and have been assembling them dry as I know that copper ease is wrong for stainless.

But what is the right stuff to use? I've had a google and I'm seeing some insane prices for stuff that's branded as being for stainless (like >£100 for 500ml) so curious to see what others use.

Delta 515, Rocol also do a product, I think most of the Co thet do copper slip type products will do a SS variant.
The 515 is about £12 for 500g

Worth every single penny when that M24 bolt comes undone, unlike last time . . . or the last M10 screw out of 50 or so holding a heat exchanger plate in the bottom of a 10,000 litre tank . . .

I was told to use food safe silicone grease on stainless pipe fittings, not sure if it's right though. It seems to be working but I haven't left it very long or got it hot yet so not a very thorough test.

When I worked on food grade stainless industrial centrifuges, the recommendation was to rub in molybdenum bisulphate paste to protect it and a mix of molybdenum bisulphate paste and lithium based grease to lubricate it. If a 60cm locking ring galled up, you were in big trouble, especially as they had to be tightened a precise amount to marked points to ensure the bowl didn't go out of balance. The bowls weighed up to 250kgs and spun at 8000rpm.

Is copper ease wrong for stainless? Perhaps it promotes galvanic corrosion?

What kinds of nuts and bolts and torques are involved. For small instrument screws, I've used whatever grease fell to hand. The area where it all gets a bit critical is tapered stainless pipe fittings where I'd want some good quality PTFE tape.

It's Nickel-free, I'm not a metallurgist but I guess Rocol have a couple that reckon it's a good idea not to use Nickel on Stainless.

For Stainless to anything else (e.g. fuel injectors to Copper & Aluminium) we use ceramic grease.

Really depends what you are using and what for… if it’s corrosive or hot, difficult to access or work on, or expensive then the right stuff is relatively cheap.

Mostly I just use lithium grease for “ ordinary “ stuff, or krytox … but you really don’t want to go there

Do they weld themselves up? The K nuts we use on steel studs weld up if you use a high speed nut gun and they never can be undone. The stud comes out with them.

We use copper antiseize at work. Mostly go for stainless A4 nuts and bolts on pipework because of the corrosive atmosphere, to make maintenance easier down the line.
I lookd into changing for a "proper" stainless anti galling paste a few years back but decided that we'd used coppaslip for decades, and if it aint broke, don't fix it. We rarely have problems, and usually it's caused by lack of any lube.

Any antiseize is better than none!
