Welding Helmet - visible viewing colour

I've struggled with my SIP and I will admit I have a cheap auto darkening helmet that is very sensitive to adjustments - to dark and I can't see the weld pool - touch lighter and it's all a bit of a flare

The viewing colour is green - anyone have a helmet that is a different viewing colour

I tried Malcolms when I was on the training day but found that a bit bright but I'm sure it was a bit more blue than green or just brighter

It may be my eyes to be honest but I thought I'd canvas opinion here

I`m sure there`s a blue one, and i think one of the top end optrel`s is "real" colour. I seem to recollect a brown one too

I have an Optrel and its natural ! I think , works very well !

I wouldn't have thought "blue" would be a good idea

It would allow the blue spectrum, ie: UV, through the lens and into your eyes

Blue lenses are sometimes used for O/A welding aluminium i think,but dont think it would help mild steel.

Mine is a yellowy-green. I had to look today, couldnt have told you without looking though.

Thanks for all the replies all - nice to know that the greens can vary and there are some alternatives out there

Booked up to get my eyes checked but I'm pretty sure that I'll get a new Helmet from Steve and see how I get on with that

I usually see greens as blue and blues as green so I don't know if my Parweld is an actually green or am I just seeing the blue as green.

I've found about this problem when I realized that there were no such thing as "blue means go if clear".

Maybe blues are actually green and greens are actually blue and I am one of those guys who sees the true colours, I don't know... I sometimes think about that.
