Too slow if your doing a lot. Now use a 22 ton tractor mounted one. Really irritates me as it has the double safety handle.

Local faceache has a thread about saving energy . . . one of the amazing ideas posted on it it, was to hang your washing outside before putting it in the dryer . . .Reply

Go figure my missus. Cover every radiator with damp washing and turn the thermostat up to the max! Mine and her mums will be turning in their graves. Always one eye on the weather for drying, my mum had.

Seems the NZ population are currently a bit peed off with their government over the ongoing Covid restrictions and see the rest of the world getting on with things. The tax reduction to be reviewed in 3 months.

Condenser drier as a present? The compressor type is brilliant. WELL worth the extra. Safer too. Plus you recover the heat in winter.

Diesel went up 4ppl between Saturday and Monday here. £1.79 I paid yesterday.
that was another suggestion, then used a dehumidifier . . . missing the point of hanging it outside and not running the heating, the dryer, or the dehumidifier.
Had my mum on the phone complaining the spin dryer I bought her two years ago to replace hers that had let the smoke out, had also had a loss of smoke . . .

When I worked in Cincinnati 20 yrs ago, local township had banned all external washing lines - so you had the bizarre sight of driving home, in the middle of summer, some real heat, with people with washing hung inside garages or running dryers . . .
My mum would probably have complained it was too hot and would dry it too much to iron properly . . .

Our local Tesco has sold out every time I have driven past.
Trying to get home Sunday night I tried 4 petrol stations. Then I remembered one that would be open - another Tesco off the beaten track. Flipping M4 closed. I had to drive on a detour - made worse by an idiot in a van driving at 30 in the 40 limit - and 20 in the 30 limit. Took me forever to get home

I still can't get my head around this, I was gobsmacked when I first heard of such clothesline bans. As I understand it, most of them were put in place by housing associations and based purely on "we don't like the look of clothes lines" lol

Fitted a programmeable thermostat about 15yrs ago, which I suppose gives the same sort of control as the 'Hive'. Set all the TCVs for each room as required and the radiator at the thermostat location purposely lower than the 20C programmed. Otherwise it would control the thermostat. A 15C min base rising to 20C mornings at 5am to 9am then down to 18C during the day and winds up and a way in the evenings 23C from 5pm til 9pm. This lets the TCVs control individual rooms.
Did try zoning upstairs rooms in a previous property 30 yrs back but it wasn't worth the effort.
Use about 1,000ltr/yr oil for heating and hotwater. Stone farmhouse extended.

They even have rules about the age of the car in your drive, what car/bike work you can do in your drive, restrictions on what colour you can paint your house, what you can grow in your front yard, etc.
I used to work with a guy who lived in one such 'institution', he didn't stay there long.
Mind you, seeing the way some people use their drive as a scrapyard, come workshop, service centre oil dump, I can see why some people prefer to have rules.

Yeah it seems the American way. If they don't have hard and solid rules about something, then some people tend to swing totally the opposite way. It's always seemed like a very black or white country, from H&S to politics etc.

This was my local BP garage the week before last, no idea what it is now. Suffice to say I never fill up there.
I always buy the cheapest I can find. Tesco/Asda in Swansea around £1.61 for diesel at the moment but will hopefully come down around 5 to 10p soon.
Yanks are ignoring Biden and extracting more shale oil and it looks like they will take Venezuela off the sanctions list.
