Bought myself a V8 jaaaaaaag

just booked the jag in for dinitrol chassis treatment and any rust removal

I mean I know this isn't on the same platform as the Mondeo but you can see the Mondeo influence...while not being able to point to a single item and say "that's the same". I mean the Jaaaaaaaaaag wheel is clearly the same but with a natty leather cover, different buttons and wood rim. Seat belts are all the same, seat's and seat switchgear look very very similar (although there are only so many ways to make a seat!)

My 4.2l Jag engine, has been totally reliable, I just do oil/filter changes after 10k miles or more recently after 2 years.

I did buy a new set of plugs at 140,000 miles, but when I removed the old ones they still looked perfect.

Now at 146,000 miles and 20 years old and running perfectly.

Shame the same can't be said about the car, I've had to deal with major rust issues right back from year 10.

yeah i can definitely see the similarities/inspiration but i’ve always liked the old mondeos anyway, looked at st220s as well before getting the jaaaaag

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but 5 years time the mondeo will be worth more than the jag

Cracking car except this one had some history, not sure what had happened to it but laquer flaking off in large sections, wheel bearing issues and more, it was less than 3ys old at the time, still under warranty. Jaguar UK refused to pay for paint and said it was "normal"... not impressed

Aluminium body so no problems with rust....... went for its 1st MOT, got an advisory on excessive corrosion on the rear subframe...... traded it in...... cant see me buying a modern Jag again

You are right , if its a second car, you can buy a 100k motor for 10k, bargain.

My Lexus ISF is worth 5k more than I bought it for 5 years later. sold my VXR8 for 2k less than i paid for it 4 years and 68k miles later, there are absolute bargains out there.

my Jeep grand Cherokee 3.0l diesel does less miles to the gallon than the ISF on a long run.

yeah the one thing i’m most worried about is the chassis condition hence why it’s booked in for a steam clean, de rust and denatril treatment, hoping it’s not too bad

i’ll be using morrison’s premium stuff too, decent chunk cheaper than the name brand petrol

I've got a 2012 Mondeo, looks nothing like the one in the pics, but it's been a great car for me, five years totally problemo free.

Well, this morning it warned me my key fob battery was low, as soon as I started the motor. Some interesting technology to do that.

Battery just been changed, I'll see if the warning light has cleared when I go to the beer shop tonight........

I've got a 2012 Mondeo, looks nothing like the one in the pics, but it's been a great car for me, five years totally problemo free.

Very, very different beast. The one I pictured was my old 1998 "Mk2". The Mk4 which you and I have is 10 years and one major version newer on an utterly different platform (the "Mk3" was an update of the Mk1/"Mk2" platform).

Explanation? Rated by whom? Link?

The additive packs aren't that different and the base fuel comes from the same primary terminal in each area.

Or are you basing that on the housekeeping variations in your area?

Oddly Mr Google is struggling to find complete specifications of the Super grades from any of those three suppliers, beyond compliance with EN 228.

Tesco provides the most useful statement, supporting my statement above:

All fuel sold in the UK must conform to the same British Standards. For reference, they are BS EN 228:2012 for Unleaded and BS EN 590: 2013 for diesel. With base fuel the same standard across the country, the difference between retailers then comes down to the additives that are blended into the base fuels before going into tankers and off to the forecourt. We can’t comment on other retailers but can tell you that we blend additives into all of our fuels: Tesco Unleaded, Tesco Diesel and Tesco Momentum99.
