lr disco brakes

hi all,
trying to get the disco back on the road, finished replacing the sill on the drivers side still got ns to do. I noticed the brake lines need replacing anyone know the pipe and fitting sizes off hand, its a 1998 300tdi es.

Pipes are 3/16”. For fittings compare them them with the ones shown on the following page to find out what you need, though I'd guess they'd be M10 * 1mm.

they are m10 but be careful you get right length ones.
mate didnt they were gnats c""k smaller and leaked.
have heard of case of same on one of landy sites i use.

Yes, as per colins pictures, the length, and the amount of thread varies.

I believe the terminology is TTE - Threaded To End.

That's most car manufacturers, not Land Rover in particular The Nissan van I had was good because the brakes only used male unions so no different flares needed.

thanks for that, i'll check again later, just welded up the edges of the alpine window, how on earth can a car rot from the top down same has happened on the nearside. But worth it in the end cause it's a landie.

I assume you hammered a 6 point socket on ?,don't worry your not the first,i've never done that but I've seen a few sad looking caliper bolts in the past.

Did one yesterday brakepipe that runs from passenger side inner cill to rear brake, renewed in copper utilising the origonal landrover fitings just had to do a flare on copper.
DONT bother trying to flare the steel pipes it isnt worth the frustration luckily after cutting it just in front of the rear passenger side wheel, we managed to find the union by the inner wing of the front wheel, after several wet soggy hrs trying to get the steel to flare, seal and stay sealed!!!
So now we have a nice shiney copper pipe installed from front to back, wish however I had found the front union first, cos now there is a ugly brake pipe joiner, but this is cheaper than ripping ALL the copper out and renewing.
BEWARE the plastic clips that hold it to the body over the chassis tube, will invaribly break, swine to get at.
