The End of Halfords tools?

That's a pretty awesome set.

I never considered how they make those spanners but thinking about it know I might have to dissect one to find out.

Swage them shut perfectly possible, but that would bugger the chrome. But to chrome after assembly wouldn't work either.

Just to throw in the mix, I’ve a few sets of ‘normal’ ratchet spanners, but I’ve a ramp and roller set as well.

They are mega. They work in really fine increments as there’s no ratchet mech. It’s a dowel and wedge type affair. You won’t break that! It gets tighter the more torque you put on. More likely to snap the spanner.

I don’t know why mainstream manufacturers don’t offer them more.

I really like the sprag clutch design, if my ratchets start to wear out that would be my choice of replacement

We used to have an old Britool 1/2” set like that where I used to work - there was no clicks just a continuous slip in either one or the other direction, was really nice to use.

According to the Facom / MAC van salesman, most of the warranty exchange ratchet spanner problems are due to ingress of muck building up inside the ratchet, if they could make them serviceable like the hand ratchet heads, they would - it'd save them a fortune.
Where possible, I always release the torque with a fixed head spanner though.
Now, about these extra-long spanners, and how to use another combination spanner as a torque extension.....

BTW, anyone who works with 'E' bolts, these are a godsend, not managed to find a UK or even EU supplier though.

Anyone tried Stahlwille Fastratch ratchet spanners

A hydraulic guy doing some repairs on a machine of ours said they were one of the best pipe union tools he had

Yes mate, been using them online for years, the vans are just for warranty exchanges..... I used to use master-outillage.com before Brexit, I still do for low-priced items if they are below the interest threshold for import duties to be levied.
I did contact Prime Tools to see if they could supply four sets but they said no.... we ended up buying them from Oz, worked out at about £127 a set with shipping and import duties.

I wish the consumables were, I wanted to find some Glycol based anti freeze and once you navigate to the anti freeze section it wants a registration number to show you suitable types, I found my 1950 tractor registration didn't work so I couldn't view which types they had

Have a virtual beer found and cleared the cookies and I can see the full range now

Interestingly found a snap-on video claiming 1/2" ratchets handle 300ft/lbs 400nm that's rather alot

I am sure i watched a video of them testing 1/2" drives & that they all failed by 350 ft/lbs as that was the most a 1/2" square drive can take before it shears off.

Having sheared a few 1/2" drives I would agree.
