It's not always lashing rain up here.....

Simillar to when I was up hiking , After the snow has settled and it is a nice clear day with some sun it makes for fantastic views , Just don't tell too many people its nicer quiet

I'm not even sure it's growing much at all. It seems to be mostly ivy.

I actually cut that off I wired it into a spare mcb after turning off the double pole main switch and pulling the head fuse
Worked a treat, we had some lights, power for the central heating & water and TV oh and wifi.

Well I think the tail end of the storms has just arrived in Newcastle , Had the young'un out for a short walk along river and a bit of fresh air mid morning , Right now the winds picked up it's dark and the rains coming at 45 degrees . I'm sure no where near as bad as some have had , but it's scuppered my plans for the afternoon . bugger !

Yesterday was a nice day here too. Today we have winds gusting from 30-40mph supposed to get up to 60mph later on. Heavy wintery showers. Just looked at XC weather, it’s going to be windy all week. Time to get my Peter Powell stunt kite out of retirement

Bleak in Ponteland and you live in kielder forest! Theres lightly 2ft of snow up there and that in June.

South wales at the west end of the M4 on th edge of the Amman and Gwendrath valley where we get some interesting weather and strong winds off the Bristol channel due to the topography
We had a continuous express train roaring through the wood land at the bottom of our garden in the early hours of Saturday for several hours..
Several crack willow and ashes self seeded in 18 inches or so of leaf mould were torn off the rock sheet they were growing on . Further on to the outer northern edge of the woodland in an ancient abandoned fallen down stone wall there are numerous foot plus diameter trees snapped off .

If it hadn't been for the woods I reckon we'd have had a very serious beating. There was a bit of a calm yesterday afternoon which allowed me to harvest the last two raised beds of big carrots . I'd barely finished that when it started sleeting and turned to fine rain ..it been like that ever since.

It's just bloody depressing, Pi$$ing down relentlessly here in Eastern Manchester since last night and now the wind is picking up too. I wouldn't care but the sky is dark and gloomy. Think I will go and mill something!

Is it ever going to stop? The ground was already saturated and its been raining all night, there's flood warning in the valley and we still have a few hours of rain yet. It's currently persisting it down, I've had to empty the sumps of a couple of grids as the rain washes the gravel from top dressing the road straight through our garden. I made the sumps extra deep but they still fill quite quickly. My tee-shirt got soaked this morning emptying the grids (steady on girls!), I may have to put my big coat on soon

This is what happens when the grids on the lane are full of carp, which is always. I usually end up emptying them. There's a big grid I installed at the top right of the steps with a 6" drain, this is the excess that jumps over a 6" stone lip below the grid. There will be another couple of barrows full of top dressing gravel in the sump by now.
