Hello Everyone,
First post from Australia.
I have recently bought a second hand Cigweld Transmig 190.
It is in excellent condition, as new infact.
I paid $500 for it which is a bargain as far as I can tell.
Anyway the guy I bought it from plugged it in and it fired up pulled the trigger and I
could hear the fan and a solenoid clicking on and off also wire was feeding but I didn`t test it.
Got it home thinking this was a bargain then used it for about 30 minutes and it stopped feeding wire,
it was still working in every other way just not feeding and not arcing.
Really ****** of as my bargain had **** itself after about 30 minutes.
I pulled the cover off and checked the wire feed with a battery and its still works, but not when the trigger is pushed.
Kept looking around and pulled the board off and found a broken circuit, I took it to an electronics guy and he repaired it
with a bit of wire and solder.
I then replaced it and the welder went fine for about another 30 minutes then stopped.
being a bit ****** off I went inside to cool off.
I then went back outside to try it and it worked again for a while then stopped.
I`m only doing light welding not at full amperage about 4 from the 7 setting and not continuous so its not overheating.
Id had enough so I decided to take it to a welding repair shop.
He had a look and said its working again but Ill change a few things and see how it goes. Cost $315.00.
I thought Ok if it works ok Ill just cop it and move on.
I go home start welding again and after about 30 minutes of only doing about 20 plug welds in a car floor pan it stopped again.
Now I`m really getting ****** off.
I thought ok I`m not messing with it, he said take it back if it doesn`t work so I put it back in the shed after it being switched of for 20 minutes, I thought i`ll
just plug it in again and try it and guess what its working again, so now I`m going to use it till it stops again till it stops and doesn`t start again.
Does anyone have any idea what this problem would be. As stated the machine is in absolutely new condition, looks like its never been used.
It`s almost like it overheats then goes again when it cools down.
Could it have a faulty thermal switch, overheat light does not come on. Where would I find this switch?
I do have another one of these machines exactly the same that stopped working and can use it for spares
if I need to, everything is good on it except the mother board
Somebody please help me I`m at my witsend and ready to stick it out the front for rubbish collection.
The repairer said take it back if it stops but it doesn`t stop long enough for him to check it out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I`ll post some photos later so ****** off as im in the middle of a Job.
Thanks
