I had a Husquvarna,sold to Julian on here,last year,it was a great saw,but I now have too far to walk for an electric cable.oops just noticed you mean battery power!

Don't use it regularly but the 18V DeWalt I have is surprisingly good. Far more life out of a 5ah battery than expected.

Wouldn't replace a big chainsaw but certainly less effort for smaller things.

I watched a review of battery chainsaws, Dewalt came out on top. Our org trialled Stihl and Husqvarna saws, they got sent back. They aren’t up to professional use yet.

I like my little Husky and it's taken some abuse but it does suffer massively with a slightly dull chain. It's kind of taken a backseat recently with the 562XP I got for Christmas but that thing is a fair lump to hold up limbing branches from fallen trees.

Up until I had the 562 the little battery Husky did everything I wanted of it and more but recently it's just been sat in the workshop, a) the fallen trees have got bigger and b) the 562 is just so damn fast at cutting through stuff it's just plain quicker to use it.

562 is a cracker of a saw!! I bought the 550 when it first came out

I have the cheapie lidl parkside special. 4ah battery and has dropped a few little trees, sub 12" across.

Needs the big batterys 4ah but for limited use Is fine.

If working hard would looked at dewalt flexvolt range

I would love another 2 stroke one but my problem is I only use it for a month or 2 of the year to cut up my fire wood then it gets a back seat and the last 2 stroke one used to get on my wick spent more time trying to get it to run again!
My mate is getting a oak felled next week and I can take as much as I want so I want it all! should keep me going for 5 or more years, its a big fella

I like the battery saws but for home use I think you are far better off with a corded one.

this would be for away from home use! like cutting this oak up into managable bits. It would also be handy to take out green lanning.

what would the maintance be like on the 562 if it was not used often?
It does look like a great bit of kit and I do love the smell!

I have the 220msa with 2 300s bats (most people complaining about them used their existing 100 200 or 300 bats not the 300s it was designed for) & they have just brought out a bigger version with much larger ah capacity & wattage output battery.

The 18v ones will not have the same power & running time per ah as the 36v ones.

I am very tempted by the Ego 56v ones as I have two bats already.

Hayes Machinery were cheaper by a big margin on the 562XP when I got mine but they did have a sale on.

At least on my strimmer it's been a damn sight easier to start by draining the fuel and running the carb dry. I was planning on doing the same with my 562XP but it's been used pretty regularly at the moment so can't really comment...

Battery saws are great bits of kit to leave behind the seat of a truck or machine, unless you have a trailer load of batteries it wouldn't be the sort of thing to go out chopping up timber with.
XP`s are top drawer, a bit overkill for occasional use.

I would also add to Bob's comment above, the 562XP is the first tool that has genuinely scared me. I've always had a healthy respect for power tools - particularly grinders and chainsaws but this is the first time I got a big shock when pointed it at some wood. As the chap who helps my neighbour out with his carpentry and roofing business, it just wants to eat wood. Touch a piece of wood at anything above idle and it just pulls itself in and chomps through it.

I cut a load of free firewood up wth a 3ft ex swedish army bow saw. Like a hot knife through butter. Not to everyones taste but you use what you've got.
