The End of Halfords tools?

Just been to Halfords to swap my trusty 13mm ring spanner and they tell me they have none instock and cant order me one?
The live chat person messed me about for a week and has just told me its discontinued?
How can they do this with a Lifetime warranty?

No doubt it's because their current supplier has gone bust or is too expensive. Even snap on are struggling with their suppliers.

How did you destoy a 13mm spanner? I have some really old ones but tend to loose them before they wear out.

Quite easily I have done it to more than a few.

I think I may well have a broken 13mm, yep a 13mm Repco[fine old brand?] combo the ring is broken.

Still halfords should give you a refund or their latest/better thing .

snap on only cover the end of breaker bars , not the handle ,, or so I was told , they dont cover the moving parts in a ratchet either .
My van man is a bit flexi sometimes , but Ive known him a long time , and a lot of money .

A couple months ago I gave the local Snap On van man a 1/4 drive ratchet I've had for 15 years or more and its been bust all that time - he took it away to drill the screws out, and a week later handed it me back with new internal and new screws.
Not bad for a free ratchet and a bloke I've not bought a thing from, or ever likely to.

I had that with their Professional Torque wrench that failed. Tried to make out only the Advance range had lifetime warrant. I informed it was Professional before being renamed Advanced whilst he was probably still in primary school so get your manager. Walked out with an Advance Torque wrench.

So the lifetime guarantee means the lifetime of the deal rather than the product.

I was told they cover the handle but not the knuckle.

Coincidentally it was the knuckle I bust. I’m assuming it was the handle that needed replacement on yours?

Halfords will always stop overing life time cover on a tool, if it is being replaced by a new design.

I've broken a Snap On 1/2" breaker bar 1st time the pin snapped 2nd time the handle broke, the ear the pin goes through snapped. In defence of the bar, I did have a 6' scaffold pole on it and I was jumping on it

Repaired the 1st time, replaced after the second incident

I have a half inch snap on bar that I broke the knuckle, got told a new knuckle wasn't available anymore due to a design change, heres a new bar.

Halfords will always stop overing life time cover on a tool, if it is being replaced by a new design.

The ratchet part went on my Halfords Professional 3/8 ratchet. This is specifically not covered by the warranty. I bought a new ratchet replacement kit but turned out that they had changed the design.
Rather than sort me out a kit for the ratchet I had they just swapped the ratchet for a new one.

Of course YHMV.
