Bought a solar panel kit for the shed roof to run a few things in the garden. I'll not be putting that up any time soon!

Not only is this thing already 'a weather bomb' but a rare 'sting jet' is a possibility where a small area within the storm produces even higher wind speeds like in the 1987 Great Storm. Our house and garden are used to the normal 60-70 mph Winter storms Cornwall gets but this does look very severe indeed. We have been around the garden making sure there are no loose things to fly around, and sealed up the greenhouse (otherwise the glass gets sucked out). I have all the torches in the house charged up so we will see what arrives. We are still in the red zone at the moment. There is an ominously gentle 5mph wind blowing...

Went down the club last night to check the boat. All ok, went back today & strapped a couple of dinghies down & checked everything, Several other members doing the same, to be honest im more worried about the neigbours conifers they have got very big & are quite close to my re roofed workshop, Hope sods law doesnt drop one onto it!

We have everything outside secured as best as possible. I also filled a 20 litre container and the bath tub in case the power goes out and the water is cut off, so at least we will be able to make coffee and refill the toilet tank.

Just beginning to get a bit noisy outside at 10.17 pm. Nothing unusual for this house, it tends to keep you in touch with the weather. 27mph average and 43.4 (gale force) in the gusts. More to come I'm sure. I'm off to sleep.

Battened down the hatches here, just outside Cirencester and 700 feet up. The red zone ends about 15 miles from us apparently so it should be interesting!
