250 amp mig running hobbyweld gas with 1.0mm wire, did approx 60 feet of weld Saturday and seemed to me to be heavy on the gas, also welds looked crude ie not glassy smooth almost like they had been welded with straight co2 gas, plus a lot of weld spatter which I initially put down to the crap steel, was running 10lpm, but I think that is to high any rough calcs to start with appreciated.
Job is welding new 5mm steel plate to old rough steel some thicknesses as low as 2mm other 3 to 4mm all lap joints, all old steel been cut with torch but ground/wire wheeled to clean metal, not a straight edge in sight, cant moan to much as I cut it!
Running MB25 torch with 5/8 shroud.
