Was making a frame for a gate today, first time using my STatic Arc 200 in anger. Got a couple of questions.

1. Arc was making the right noise, weld isnt too bad just needs better input from me but wasnt the ideal positioning wise. I was struggling to control the pool as I had to travel quite fast. Wire speed was quite slow just observing the feed rate, not sure what the dispay is telling me.... , Im assuming its 90 amps not feed rate. Could do with slowing it all down, do I just reduce the amps? Wire was really slow coming out of the gun as it is.
2. Was having dip transfer and arc was quite stable so Im assuming my volts (20) is reasonably where it should be.
3. Whats the setting at the botton right, 3rd photo, led on beside it, value shown(005) on left side.... I set it midway.

It looks to me like a) the weld area wasn't cleaned and b) you don't have much of an earth connection.

Correct on both accounts..... didnt do much clean up, still red oxide primer near to weld and my earth clamp wouldnt fit around the pipe (its a loop so no open end) so I used a g clamp and fixed my earth to that.

What made you see an earth problem?

It looks to me like a) the weld area wasn't cleaned and b) you don't have much of an earth connection.

Took me a while to learn that the earth connection is as important as good clean metal is where you’re welding.

How thick is the section as 90 Amps might be too light for that?

It’s medium quality en10255 pipe, 1” nom bore, so wall is about 3-4mm. I was actually burning through hence the short runs and stop starting. Also the frame is 6’ x 5’ so couldn’t move it much for positioning
Yes receipt is saved, 2 yr warranty so for the money I’m willing to take the risk. If it goes ok I might buy the spool gun and have aluminium capability too.
I also have a cheap Chinese tig, cost £200, 8 yrs now and still going so that’s worked out well.
