Clear fuel hose

I need some clear fuel hose, this stuff seems to be PVC and there is conflicting information about whether it’s ok for unleaded fuel (some places list it along side the rubber stuff as ‘diesel only’. Anyone know for sure? Bonus points for a good supplier, but I only need about a metre.

As far as I know, there is no clear hose that is ethanol proof. Even most so called unleaded fuel hose degrades very quickly with it.

I wondered if that might be the case. It’s just to monitor a possible fuel delivery problem, so I might just use a bit temporarily. Thanks

A cheap plastic fuel filter *instead* of the hose?

You can get a glass inline filter which can be disassembled and cleaned. They are only a tenner.

Tygon fuel hose is a possibility but not really clear more translucent. Depending on the size required a lot of lawnmower agents should stock it.

I don't know about petrol, but I run on methyl esters, which perform hydrocarbon migration through many materials.

I've replaced all the fuel line in my 101 landrover with clear nylon phumatics hose, with the appropriate olives and inserts.

The TDI landrovers used very similar (but black) out of the factory.

Again I know nothing of petrol, and I'd imagine this may go brittle over time with petrol, but I'd think it would take a good few years?

You would be amazed how fast "fuel" hose degrades in Ethanol contact. In my experience, six months may be pushing your luck in an injected vehicle. This is why I sell the Cohline, it is 100% Ethanol proof, even in direct immersion.

I'll agree with that.

Older hose even less time - and degrades enough to simply fall apart and allow the tank to drain onto the ground!
