Those sort of sites usually supply a banksperson. On a lot of sites you aren't allowed to get out of the cab, hence the use of air tailgate and easy sheets but more tippers go over now as you don't know if you're tipping on soft ground or not as you haven't walked on it .
Even in my pick up I do it.It would help if half the hgv drivers actually got out of the truck and did a reccy of the situation before they backed in, I do.

Get out!! Do that at a lot of sites & you will be banned, Even loaded without getting out + have to wear HH gloves & safety specks.
I presume due to loader dropping something on the cab![]()
they employ 95 percent foreign people to do everything only management is englishstobarts don't have them as all there kit could be tied together but to make it compulsory requires a lot of thought.
And where would your cut off line be for size.
There are plenty of standards available for cameras.Lights are easy it's either on or off.
Cameras not so simple as we'd have to agree a standard.
The other reason might be drive offs. There is a bit of that but its rare, a mate does relief driving for one of the supermarket chains and when he pulls in they disconnect him and back a shunter under the trailer. They don't trust the drivers to back into a loading bay ffs, so many truckers these days spend too much time trunking and have little to no reversing skills.

dont want to end up in the gulagvery politicaly correct![]()
This article had all sorts of hi tech solutions- mainly based around remote operating wheel clamp / raising bollard type affair that were operated by the loading dock supervisor.Where I worked, there was an incident in which two FLT drivers were unloading an artic. One had finished 'his' side. ' OK drive', he pulled forwards. The other still had his forks under a stillage on the bed of the truck! It pulled the truck almost over. until the driver stopped. He would have been OK, but the FLT driver jumped and broke his ankle. The drivers were instructed to stay in the cab, but put the keys in the drivers door lock. And the FLT drivers were told to actually talk to each other.
Problem is, you find an idiot proof solution, along comes a new and improved idiot so a new solution has to be found at greater expense. Repeat. At the end of the day, It's all down to cost.
