A bit of chassis repair for my brother today.

Had a phonecall from my brother saying that his pathfinder had failed it's MOT on an area of corrosion on the chassis and asked if I could patch it up for him. My response no I'm not patching over it, if you want me to do it I'll be cutting it out and laying new steel in and that is what I did.

The corrosion was very isolated. The inside of rail was pretty spotless. I'm guessing the issue was caused from the exhaust silencer being very close to the chassis in that area and no heat shield to the side.

It actually looks like there is an existing over-plating repair already there. Or does that line to the left come with it from the factory?

That was my initial thought but it's actually seems factory done and the same on the other side of vehicle. Not a great looking design

Pathfinders and navaras are known for corrosion in this area. Navaras snap. There is a reinforcing kit sold on evil bay for them
