Splined/ribbed coach bolts

I'm looking for coach bolts that have splines or "ribbing" under the head instead of a square, a bit like a wheel stud.

Only results I'm getting are American so wonder if they have a different name here?

Or alternate suggestion for a fastener like a coach bolt but can be used in steel? Something like a binder screw but in sizes bigger than m4.

I just don't fancy filing the holes square for a coach bolt.

For attaching timber/composite boards onto steel frames.

Carriage bolts and coach bolts are the same no?, certainly searching for carriage bolts gives me all the same results as coach bolts?

You do get "rib neck carriage bolts" as you've linked to but as you've also demonstrated...all in the states.

These are the sort of things we use for attaching the composite body panels to metal on trailer sides.
Sound like what you are asking about except the splines on these dig into the panel side. They would possibly pull into thin sheet metal but I don't think they would pull into 3mm angle or something unless you had an oversize hole to start with.
(The white bits under the heads are waterproof sealing washers.)

Coach bolt heads are meant to sink into the timber .. if there is a risk of it splitting drill a slightly bigger hole . Same when putting them in fairly thin metal they'll usually pull tight into a slightly larger hole .

they're a bit of a pain tho if you want to do them up tight...can start spinning quite easy, then you need to fanny about with vice grips to try and grip the bolt head side, can't really get away with drilling a much smaller hole either, needs to be 10mm through everything so the nut fits inside

actually, looking at that fitlock page looks like can get them with longer ribbed/grip part on the bolt side, only thing is you need to get the right length bolt/nut for the job, either the nut won't catch the bolt if too short or the bolt will go too far through the nut and hit off of the torx bit before it's fully tightened, more leeway for the longer sizes....depends on the thickness of what you're joining

Almost, generally too short and the heads are a bit small, decorative application as well as practical.

Stainless would also be a bonus

M6/M8 would be good

Thought I had some to give you a measure but not laid my hands on them yet. Definitely m6 and from memory the bar is 20mm for the ribbed bit then similar for blade + nut. Longer for the drive end iirc.
A NH. tractor dealer should keep you right perhaps others as well.

You might be able to "make" your own to a fashion by sticking a rivnut on a stainless bolt?
