Cazoo cars , "carefully reconditioned"

Ok so cazoo advert on tv , basically buy a used car online get it delivered etc ...... (I mean who actually wants to drive it first !?)
Soo how can they claim every car is reconditioned (sorry carefully reconditioned )

To me a reconditioned engine for example ,would be rebuilt to as new condition .
I mean come on do they strip the gearbox ,air conditioning compressor etc etc .......

Maybe there idea of reconditioned is a steam clean and change the oil ?

Just means the standard Dentmaster/Scratchmaster cosmetics and valet, plus repair of any obvious issues I would assume. Just the same as any other pile it high sell it cheap car supermarket. How can they afford to be any different?

Their other trick I've heard is that their 7-day 'money-back guarantee' starts from when you place the order not when you take delivery. So with a bit of faff, you actually have one or two days.

Distance selling gives you 14 days no questions then 30 days sommat else. Can’t remember but it applied to this l200 I’ve just bought as the guy was worried I’d send it back and he’s have to pay

All dealers are the same, they claim muli point inspections etc etc but when I buy I expect to find out why the previous owner traded it in (or sold it) within the first couple of weeks then it goes back to get fixed.... my last four cars have been like that......

Here you go. To be fair to them, it looks pretty thorough but there's a lot of "Check present (if applicable) and check condition" to get it up to 300.

Think you will find the 300 point inspection the mechanic gets one hour to do it NOT POSSIBLE. When I worked on the trucks we got a hour to do a safety inspection YEAH RIGHT ! Meaning most of it was a paper ticking exercise.

yeah but some of those are like getting a score on an exam sheet for writing your name on it.

Put a ‘reconditioned’ gearbox in a lorry last year. They had painted it black. Even painted over the mud and grease.

I have no experience of the firm in question, but it appears to be a fairly liberal interpretation of reconditioned.

I worked on a project about 30 years ago - I designed and built a car processing centre for a manufacturer with inspection bays you needed sunglasses to walk through (and staffed by a third party to ensure impartiality of what was and was not acceptable in a used car), a twin-track conveyor-fed car wash, 20 bay mechanical workshop, and a paint shop with 18 spraybooths (14 of them were linked in two rows with rails so you could push the cars from prep to polish on dollies), it turned out very well prepared cars for the used market but I wouldn’t claim they were reconditioned; but that brings us back to what does reconditioned actually mean.

Most of us on here have a modicum of knowledge and interest in cars so this way of buying a car wouldn’t be for us, but I understand the appeal to the masses - my eldest son would do this in the blink of an eye, youngest will only buy his from someone he knows.
